AKS means reflection.
Try it. See it. Love it.
The Shelf of Regrets
It started with a question the team at SPL kept coming back to: why does buying clothes online in Pakistan still feel like a gamble?
Everyone we knew had the same shelf somewhere in their room — the kurta that looked perfect on the model and wrong the moment it was on, the colour that turned out nothing like the screen, the cut that hung differently on them than it did in the photo. Sending it back here isn't a one-tap affair. So people did what anyone would: they hesitated. Abandoned the cart. Or stayed loyal to the one brand they had already learned to trust, and never risked a new one.
The Thing We Kept Getting Wrong
For a long time we assumed it was a photography problem — better lighting, better models, better styling. It wasn't. The real issue is simpler and harder: every product photo is a picture of someone else. You are asked to imagine your way into a stranger's body and predict how the same fabric will fall on yours.
Most people are bad at that. Not because they lack imagination, but because it's an unreasonable thing to ask. So we stopped trying to describe the garment better, and asked a different question:“What if the photo were of you?”
Why Now, and Why Here
AI image generation crossed a line recently — good enough that a try-on could stop being a cartoon avatar and start being your actual photo, with your proportions, wearing the real piece. That made the idea buildable. It didn't make it built.
The tools that do exist were made somewhere else, for someone else. They are built around Western silhouettes, Western styling, Western catalogues. Pakistani clothing does not behave that way. A kurta drapes differently. A dupatta has to fall, not sit. Lawn, chiffon and heavy embroidery each catch light in their own way, and an outfit here is worn as a whole, not as one garment on a hanger.
We are here. We shop from these brands, with these same doubts. That is the whole reason this is ours to build.
“We chose the name AKS because a mirror is the one thing in fashion that has never once tried to sell you anything. It doesn't flatter, exaggerate, or hide anything. It just shows you what is actually there, and lets you decide.”
